Britephos TKPP softens hard water and inhibits dirt to return to the cleaned substrate. Its high pH supports the cleaning function of surfactants and inhibits scaling and corrosion. Britephos TKPP has an extremely high solubility in water, always giving a clear, transparent end product. In water treatment the high solubility of Britephos TKPP is preferred because solids built up is avoided.
Whether a liquid end product containing TKPP stays transparent depends on the other ingredients used. And when NaOH or KOH is added, precipitations can form. Reason: TKPP is such a strong sequestering agent, it can be a reservoir of Mg, Al or Fe –ions. Once OH- enters the equation, these metals can precipitate in hydroxide salts.
